Just say it!

How long will it take to write a novel?  I welcomed this passion of carving a story out of thoughts some time ago but have never pursued it as diligently (well some days) as I have for the past 6 months.

My googling craze charges my creative slumber.  The thoughts I vacuum up stir my imagination and soon I embark on another journey.  (This is a time when a focus disorder is fruitful!)

Recently, while searching, I discovered a novel writing contest that spurs you to write 50,000 words in one month.  (www.nanowrimo.org) I was instantly hooked.  It has been well over 20 years since I first picked up a pen and jotted my musings down (many garbage bags full have subsequently been destroyed).  I believe if I can wrap up my urge to get a rough draft accomplished, I could rest this uneasy spirit.  Will this be the trick to free me from this obsession?

I plan to post my progress and to keep me from shame, I do not anticipate failure.  I frown at mistakes and firmly believe there are no errors in life, just journeys that have dead ends.

Blessings friends,

jeannelizabeth

  1. Great blog!
I’ve done NaNo for 3 yrs. (Sara Harricharan introduced me to it.) It’s great fun. The hardest part is not correcting your work as you go along….just keep writing and ignore the mistakes. You can go back and fix them later when the month is done. I plan to do it this year. (although I haven’t got a story in mind, yet)
