The box

I finally opened the box and realized why I waited so long. It was not empty. There in the wrapping was my brother’s baby picture along with his first pair of running shoes.

There is hope in that empty box now that I have taken the pictures of John and I, the baby shoes and hospital wrist bands out. Just as the grave could not hold Jesus’s body, my life will not  be bound by the past.  To make a new person from the brokeness will be accomplished through God’s spirit. In His righteousness and holiness I rest.

Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”
