Ready, Set,…

Wow! How many of us share the sentiment of how fast time speeds past us. It is as if we are standing still, even though we are actually moving. In the down time, reflecting on past and present situations, I question my belief in G-D by the way I act. Am I a citizen of heaven or a carnal earthling? I want to bring a little bit of heaven to where you stand and I struggle how “little me” can do such a powerful act.

I chose this verse from ‎1 Timothy 6:19 “In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” as 2012’s theme for myself. Last August I took steps towards this lofty goal, without realizing what I was fulfilling. I went through a week of training to become a peer counselor at Life Centers, otherwise known as Crisis Pregnancy Centers, and each client that walks through a center’s doors is a treasure to save.

For as long as time itself, a war between life and death has been fought. Not everyone facing a pregnancy wants to choose death, but they are stressed, confused and hopeless; needing guidance, help and hope! I believe what I see with my eyes is not all there is. There is more to life than scrambling day in and day out, trying to keep above the water line, avoiding the waves and slogging through murky puddles. If I reach one person, with a flicker of light, a flicker of joy, and a flicker of hope, I will make a difference. I can say that I have already seen several woman come into Life Centers hopeless and leaving Life Centers assured that there is someone who cares, someone who will listen, act and help another life make it into the world.

What can you do to help someone who is struggling? Time and talent is all some of us have, and if you can share it listening to someone, imagine the impact you could make! Perhaps you have treasure. Consider donating to the cause of women facing a pregnancy, not fully capable of standing on her own, at least for the time being. Putting our judgments aside as to why she is in this predicament to begin with, open your heart. Jesus said “Love your neighbor as yourself” and by doing this you have fulfilled the Law of G-D. No commandment will be broken if we love one another. Love does conquer all, even death!
