Free

She found her wings
and sailed away
her thoughts were said
no time to stay
she braved her fears
in order to be, who she was

it felt good to be free
and all she learned, carried inside
brought with her, wherever she roamed
some guarded and others made known

life would never be the same
she was prepared
and no longer a victim
her pain laid bare
some guarded and others made known

she cries when she enters the door
fearful it will shut behind her
she sleeps with it wide open
along with her heart
for fear she would climb back into the pain
some day she may rain down
upon the burning embers
there are still fears
guarded in a prison
to torture her new found hope.

She found her wings
and sailed away
it was a welcome relief
and she needed to be free
to hold back the tears
some guarded and others made known.
