Corruption corrupts the corrupt.
Such thoughts can run through minds in a Presidential election when the cycle of news depicts cartoon characters playing games with their nemesis. Liars, cheats, scoundrels, fake smiles, lewd comments, criminal acts made legal as they skim the surface of the law and beat scandal after scandal with a trail of dead bodies and a bank account the size of Mt Fuji. I think most can relate certain descriptions to the appropriate party. Unfortunately, the voters are lock step, forced to vote or be ruled. Except, voters are ruled by emotions, hopes, needs and likewise discernment is crucial. Most will vote the best of the worst.
I wish for a magical wand to whisk away the nightmare, aka “I Dream of Jeanie”. (Hah, heard that joke one too many times.) What brought a nation down to the gutter? One candidate steps on the other trying to ring the bell at the top of the heap. Politics is a wrestling and boxing game. No one can be pinned down but one good sucker punch and we will have a winner.
I am praying someone rises from our nation’s ash heap and brings mental stability back to our hearts and collective minds. Can anybody understand America and how far it has fallen?
The American experiment, as all nations, are fraught with errors from the beginning. There are bright morning stars but too often it is the midnight special delivered to the unsuspecting, resting. I do believe intentions are not always foul. There are true spirits and hearts in this world. The quiet ones tucked in corners, the meek over thrown by bullies.
Certain individuals can rule with humble piety and then all mankind benefits. Where is Martin Luther now? Or Abraham Lincoln? No such men or women have existed in America since their time. And those who do exist capable are quieted by millions of dollars, beaten over the head with the bag of loot.
“Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.”
“May the force be with you.” Yoda’s advice this election.
