Out of the Darkness

Today is Suicide Awareness Day.
Im memory of my brother, John Matthew, April 28, 1971-March 1, 2008.

Seattle, WA, Summer 2014.

walk 6 hours
18 miles through
darker still he grew,
grief, a funny animal
drowning in the sea.

feathered whispers breathe,
the air unreal
as passing days fade
ushering in broken silence.

fly away friend in peace, jeanne

  1. Thank you for sharing this. I am a survivor of my husband’s suicide and an advocate for mental health and suicide awareness. My writings focus exclusively on these topics. Ending the stigma and talking about it is how we can overcome the loss of more people to such an epidemic. Thank you again for sharing and making this a part of the conversation.

    • Hugs to you. Thanks for reading. I noticed the “evolution” in your name and i am not sure but i just recently took on that thought… the evolution of jeanne. Coincidence? Not a day goes by… All the best, always. J💛
