Merry Christmas

Adorn the tree
spending spree
all in celebration.
For some a day
to get away
work spent in recreation.

Then others rise
to find surprise
presents under the tree.
That man in a suit
brought loot to boot
children fancy-free.

A remaining few
sit in a pew
the faithful pray for peace.
The nations race
against the clock
humanity’s wars to cease.

We gather round
Christmas profound
a lot to ponder this day.
Join our hands
let us make a stand
faith, hope and love to stay.
