Paused

Wondering what life was before Amazon and Apple because now it feels I can only feel bliss with free shipping, 24 hour shopping and continual connection with friend and stranger. I like convenience: Washing machines and television, indoor lavatories and central air. My father tells me he walked to school, 2 miles one way, with no supervision and snow piled 10 feet high. Sounds fun! Who is complaining now?

In the distant future, Santa Fe, August 2016

i see the clouded shadow
emerge upon the greening cliff
once blanketed by milky life
now shrouded in obsidian tomorrow.
