Emily, Our Friend

Part One: Life
IX

THE HEART asks pleasure first,
And then, excuse from pain;
And then, those little anodynes
That deaden suffering;

And then, to go to sleep; And then, if it should be
The will of its Inquisitor,
The liberty to die.

Do go read the rest of her poem, continuing here…
Her words flourish deep in the soul, send our hearts a flutter.

And then this, Michael Nyman’s “The Heart Asks Pleasure First”…

The Piano, one of my fav movies, along with Madame Bovary, along with a true love story, Rodin and Camille Claudel, Jung and Sabina Spielrein.

Still, it is Emily, a dear friend, that walks lonely inside my head.

  1. I love the Piano, the sad story of Camille Claudel and Rodin, and just read about the Jung and Sabrina film, another sad story. I’ll try to watch that. The story sounds similar to Camille’s relationship with Rodin, rivaltry and passion from Jung, both women have tragic ends.

      1. The stories are heartbreaking but I suppose easy to watch being disconnected. In reality, I am sure, nothing was quite as organized as depicted. Who to blame? Him? Her? ;( I tend to blame “him” too.
