Our visit to Bourbon Country in Kentucky was a lot of fun. We visited Willet Distillery, where the two silos exist, and Bardstown Kentucky had plenty of lodging to venture out from. Walk along the streets to find old advertising logos along with stained glass windows and architectural pieces on brick walls.
We also visited Marker’s Mark, which has absolutely beautiful grounds. And of course yo will leave with plenty of bourbon. Bourbon Trail, Kentucky USA.
Maker’s Mark Distillery
Last weekend we spent Memorial holiday in Bardstown KY and came home with three bottles of Bourbon. One bottle from Makers Mark and two bottles from Willett Distillery. The tour of Willett was fascinating as I had no clue the process of making Bourbon, the history behind the rickhouse and of course the tasting at the end helped us decide which Bourbon to purchase. Every bottle had a distinct taste, those with too much burn I passed up and others had the caramel and vanilla notes I look for in a “good” Bourbon. Of course my opinion is certainly objective.
My favorite Bourbon cocktail of late is a Bourbon Mint Lemonade. Fresh lemonade, muddled mint and several splashes of bourbon. Ooh squeeze me and pucker up! 💋🍋
But I also enjoy a good black cherry cola with a couple splashes of bourbon. Thrills me. 🍒❤️😊 Of course drink wisely!
And what would a breathless night be without sharing some good jazz… this will not cool you down.
Cheers 🍹 to summer sunshine and muggy evenings with good friends! J
