They who love in excess also hate in excess. —Aristotle

Avoid men or women who refuse to have their soul pierced with any thoughts other than their own.

Avoid men or women who champion their politics over knowledge, wisdom, truth, or charity.

Avoid those who choose to exterminate you over good-hearted conversation. A debate is always worth having when answers are greatly needed. Avoid those who avoid the hard questions.

Any voter who ignores reason and relies on a deceitful heart truly imprisons their neighbors.

Simply put, avoid anyone who blindly follows an ass.

remember cigarettes?

so i was tagged to participate in a 3-day lyrics challenge and thank you to Philosophy Through Photography for inviting.

i am cheating on this challenge because i am posting day two, before day one is over. my reasoning is that i may not be here tomorrow… well, i maybe here on earth… but absent on WP and before you know it… i will forget my obligations and fall short of completing what i started…

so i will finish what needs to get done… before i vanish. (there i go again, explaining myself for no reason.)

There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down

There’s battle lines being drawn
Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

It’s time we stop, hey, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It’s s time we stop, hey, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down
Stop, hey, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down

Stop, now, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down
Stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down

World! Honestly i am quite confused. Ethics are out the window. Some work is getting done. Behind closed doors, politicians sneaking cookies out of sealed drawers. Religion of sorts, calls for peace, while slitting throats. Citizens are finding privacy will not keep you out of jail. They pad the cell, to keep you alive. Paranoia creeping inside… scream while you can. They will find you and silence you in time.

not forgetting… share your favorite song… no need to tag in my world… your just it!

personal musings unleashed

Let’s get something straight, shall we?

There is quite a bit people do not know about me and rightfully so. Most will never get to know me much more than what I tend to share here. I feel I share a lot but there is much I keep hidden. I have learned people do not really bother to get to know people. They accept what they want to see. Or hear.

I avoid politics. I hate political statements which are often one-sided.

So if you post anything that smells like politics, anywhere on social media, I will over look you. It is not that i don’t appreciate your support of me, nor have i stopped supporting you, i just do not respond to one-sided arguments.

Alveda King, MLK Jr.’s niece, has an excellent op-ed on her blog, about people’s selective outrage regarding children. We have witnessed countless children ripped from their mom’s, knowingly and unknowingly, and we just now demand some thing be done? Why now? Seems some people’s heads and life are worth more to people’s personal peace than others and most i have witnessed have no qualms about rooting for world destruction, if it means someone they abhor obtains peace for the world.

I think it a shame the way people are behaving today. I am going to lose some friends but i know they really are not friends.

I usually keep quiet. I abhor conflict. But i believe my heart is in the right place here….

All lives matter. Always have. Even my enemies’s lives mean more than my own. I am prepared to die for truth and liberty and compassion for all.

Give the world a minute…

via Daily Prompt: Relieved

is it any wonder
any wonder at all
the world has but a minute,
left bombarded
by incessant needs
and empty words.
hear the opinions fall
not as wishing stars
but bitching clouds
that hover over us all?

i am not relieved
that we profess
to be more caring
because after all
the witch has a new face.
our careless reactions
are but ways
to make ourselves
feel better in a world
that never changes, ever.

When I go to a concert I do not want to be preached at and as much as I enjoyed the music I did find myself alienated by political sanctimonious diatribes. Actions do speak louder than words and if we each gave a little more love we would prove our sincere intentions to cover sins with grace.

Up next, U2 The Joshua Tree Tour September 10 and FARMAID September 16 with Neil Young, Dave Matthews and many more musicians to like…

In fear and trembling, destiny’s road perishes.
With courage, horizons come to light.

The ripple effect of anger is devastating, as the tide becomes larger, it reaches more and more people. For matters that harm, I cannot believe healing happens in waves, by mob rule.

Luckily no one can read the road signs in my mind. Or, perhaps you would love me, I am praying for peace.

Charlie has been entertaining me in this squalor. I want nothing of the games played but rather walk the path he takes.

friend or foe?

First, relax! Whatever is personally happening in your life need not become a mushroom cloud.

Sahara Desert, God’s Sandbox, 2010

My daughter, pictured above, spent a college semester in Rhennes, France and traveled as Europeans do. Towards the end of her travels, she skyped to invite me to come to Paris and spend the end of her trip walking the streets, enjoying art museums and sidewalk cafes. I had to decline but was never happier. She found something I may never enjoy.

Listening or reading the news today, I notice an emotional bomb has gone off in the world. America, your marching hate towards each other. The violence in the streets and ugly words in your heart are destroying this country and decent people who work hard for peace and justice. I hope this prayer reverbates around your head…STOP! Nothing speaks louder than love and I pray love wins the day.

This side against that side
warring for a country
lost in purpose
satisfied, we turn our head
feel nothing for each other,
and who sits in the middle
spinning the world toward the sun?

Power of one is won
masses united
worldviews strive to change
we realize
love is universal to all ideas
fortified with tolerance
and peace toward one existence.

I believe this love is our image of God, our smiles and hands held out. Reach for the other whether you believe God or doubt. Either way, healing begins inside to change the outside.

boiling point

Americans are tired of this election. All the lies tossed about, stones thrown at either side, knowing full well we are left with nothing to hide. Wikileaks has shown what most Americans have known. We are no longer abiding by laws at the highest level of government. Corruption, sharing of secrets on unsecured servers, trash talking women, murders and suicides hidden in the background, money flowing in and out into their pockets…(do you see I hid the other candidates sin among a growing pile of another one’s sins). There is no way to determine who is the better or worst candidate. All American’s can do is vote in shame, in hopes our selection is the best for our country.

A new poll shows Americans fear violence no matter who wins. Russia seems to be gaining nuclear power over the world and particularly upset with Americans. Talk of wars and rumors of war a never ending cycle. No one can solve this but there will come a time where a person will promise peace, rule the world from one location. All countries with no borders, money ineffective unless you pledge allegiance to this ruler who you may not believe in. Seems like a fairy tale gone bad, but many believe this will occur. The stage is set.

A new world order has been talked about for a long time. Often in secret but no longer. It slips into conversations as easily as air into our lungs. What can a person make of this? Unbelievable or a saving grace? Is there a God or are we gods in control of our own future?

Church is poetry. Poetry is life. A life well lived.

Hardened hearts, bitter souls and broken minds, I believe, describes a large portion of lives. If you count yourself among those who have forgiven, moved on or reconciled, you have found the power and glory of God above all strength of men to counter evil this side of heaven. So live peacefully among enemies, guard your hearts and minds from corruption and seek reconciliation where possible. Where evil resides hand it over to God, be still and watch His mighty wind bring righteous change.

I feel a need to speak to what is happening in America’s election. It is shocking, but not, it is unbelievable, but it is not, it is extraordinary, but it is not, it is the end, but it is not if righteousness prevails.

There has been gnashing of teeth, behind the scenes, not of politicians, but of the American citizenry who have watched freedoms erode for law-abiding citizens. Riots in the street of those who have been victims of government rule, not pulling for themselves and speaking out for their neighborhoods. They have sat in squalor, watched squalor take over, and find themselves deeper in the hole. People have flocked to the suburbs, from the cities, because of crime and poverty.

I am not a student of history as much as I love history. I cannot go deep enough into the time after the freedom of slaves. I do know a few rose above the noise of the day but many more did not. They fought and won often. They fought and lost many more. Today, the power is in a person to become a citizen, obey the law, live in peace, find hope, seek love, find forgiveness, and somehow our society has failed to see progress. Today is the most divided we have been since Lincoln’s days.

I tried to find words of wisdom from Lincoln. I read Gene Griessman’s book The Words Lincoln Lived By, and wonder why there is not a class on Lincoln in schools. He is a man of honor and wisdom all Americans can live by. It is a shame we have squandered a man’s determination to make men free to have them slaves to themselves.

freedom boxed in

I confess I am confused.
Boxed in between white space.

I am simple. To simply love a way of life.
I do not believe love is dying
politics killing freedom to embrace faith, family, neighbor, country
our ability to speak against the powerful.
Love wrangled by fear and fear rising.

Freedom is vital.
Responsibility to know truth keeps us safe.
Love, my last sword in this battle.

Men are driven by two principal impulses, either by love or by fear.

– Niccolò Machiavelli: The Discourses
